S&Box has over 70 cosmetic items on the Steam Community Market, but not all items are created equal. Some are permanently available in the item shop, while others were only sold during limited-time events and can never be obtained again — except by buying from other players on the market. How S&Box Item Rarity Works

Facepunch Studios releases new cosmetic items through a rotating in-game shop. Items fall into three categories:

  • Shop items (permanent) — Always available in the in-game store. These have the lowest market value because supply is unlimited.
  • Seasonal/event items (limited)— Only available during specific events (Christmas, Halloween, Lunar New Year, Easter, Valentine's Day). Once the event ends, these items can only be acquired on the Steam Community Market. Scarcity drives prices up over time.
  • Off-market items — Items that have been removed from the shop entirely and are no longer obtainable through any official channel. The rarest and most valuable category.

  • Plague Doctor Mask — Halloween 2025 limited item. Iconic design with strong community appeal.

Are Limited Items Worth Investing In?

Limited items tend to appreciate over time because:

  • Supply only decreases — Items get lost in banned accounts, forgotten inventories, or consumed by the market. New ones are never created.
  • Demand grows with the player base — As S&Box gains more players (especially after the April 28 launch), more people want cosmetics they missed during events.
  • Nostalgia premium— The first seasonal items (Christmas 2024, Easter 2025) will carry a "year one" premium as the game matures.
